Bertanding di Stadion Wembley, Inggris harus puas hanya bermain imbang saat menjamu Republik Ceko dalam laga persahabatan World Cup 2010. Mungkin Stadion Wembley sudah tidak keramat lagi atau Inggris memang belum bisa menampilkan permainan terbaiknya. Terbukti mantan pemain Liverpool, Milan Baros sudah mampu mengoyak jala gawang David James di menit 22. Sebuah tendangan yang tak terlalu keras tapi membentur kaki Ashley Cole membuat bola masuk ke gawang Inggris. Kedudukan 1-0 bertahan sampai akhir babak pertama hampir usai, saat sundulan defender West Bron menyamakan skor di menit 45 setelah memanfaatkan umpan crossing David Beckham.
Di babak kedua, Marek Jankulovski membuat tendangan melengkung indah yang membuat gawang Inggris bobol tiga menit setelah kick off. Ceko hampir memenangkan pertandingan jika Joe Cole tak mencetak gol di detik-detik akhir pertandingan. Pemain Chelsea ini menyelamatkan The Three Lions dari kekalahan di kandang. Di injury time Cole menjadi pahlawan dengan golnya. Skor akhirpun berubah 2-2.
